The Scene I’m In | Journal Prompt to Help See the Big PictureWhat is Emotion Clearing?

A gentle reflection practice for when you’re feeling stuck, disconnected, or ready to realign with your story.

What Would the Audience Say About This Scene?

I recently came across something on social media that stopped me in my scroll:

“If your life were a movie, what would the audience be screaming at the screen?”

Yikes. Talk about an outside perspective.

When You Feel Stuck, Try This Perspective Shift

It got me thinking about how easy it is to get stuck in our own heads—replaying decisions, doubting ourselves, shrinking to stay safe. But when you zoom out and imagine a whole room of people watching your story unfold… it shifts something. You start to see the patterns. You start to notice the turning points.

It made me stop and think: What would my audience be yelling?

When I really sat with that question, it was surprising what feelings came up. Looking at the situation from this kind of outside, third-party perspective helped me name what I was feeling, but without all the judgment. If you’re in a similar season, these prompts might help you reconnect with yourself, too.

Lately, I’ve felt stuck—full of good ideas but low on motivation. Like I’m circling around the things I want, but never quite starting. And I think the audience watching my life would be feeling this sort of loving impatience—tired of watching me put everyone else first and ending up with nothing left in the tank for myself.

That perspective shift gave me a lot to work with—it let me shift from self-criticism to curiosity. So I turned it into a journaling practice—something I could come back to whenever I’m feeling stuck, disconnected, or just curious about what the next “scene” might look like.

A Journaling Practice for Realignment + Reflection

This journaling practice is here to help you zoom out, reconnect with your values, and gently shift the energy of your current season. You don’t need to fix everything—just get honest about what’s unfolding, and open the door to your next scene with a little more clarity and compassion.

You can work through these prompts all at once, or sit with just one at a time. Choose your own adventure. I’ve also included a one-page Rewrite the Scene printable at the end of this post. It’s a quick check-in to help you reconnect to your story, realign with your truth, and rewrite the scene from your own main character energy.

  1. 1. What scene are we in right now?

    • •What are the emotional tones of this season?

    • •What feels unfinished or on the verge?

    • •What are the repeating patterns you’re noticing?

    •
  • 2. What would the audience be shouting at the screen?
    • •What are they cheering for you to finally say or do?

    • •What are they tired of seeing you tolerate?

    • •What are they whispering when you forget your power?

    •
  • 3. What do you need to remember to realign with your truth?
    • •What values or truths have I drifted from?

    • •What do I know—but haven’t been honoring?

    • •Where am I over-performing and under-being?

    •
  • 4. Rewrite the scene.
Take one moment from your week that felt out of alignment. Now rewrite it:
    • •From your values

    • •From your intuition

    • •From your main character energy

    •
  • 5. Leave a reminder for the next scene.
Write something to light the way forward—
    • •A mantra

    • •Affirmation

    • •Reminder

    •
